Previously I explained that it is best to imagine that there are 3 fuel tanks in the body, the smallest for fats, slightly bigger for proteins and the largest for carbohydrates. If you over fill any of these tanks at any given meal or in a 24 hour period or if you under fill any of these tanks in a 24 hour period you will get fat!

For example if you have a large breakfast of carbohydrates only – juice, toast and cereal, there is a good chance you will store the excess as excess weight. Likewise if you had a large meal of all proteins only, or all fats only, the excess over your needs will most likely be stored… Read more

There seems to be a lot of confusion as to the ideal food balance for weight loss. Low carb diets! High protein diets! High fat diets! High carb diets! There is an endless range of options, all claiming to be the new miracle for weight loss.

The truth is that the ideal balance should be based 1) on how much of each of these we actually need to maintain internal body functions and 2) on how much of each of these we need give us stable blood sugar levels throughout the day, giving us the energy we need but at the same time not adding to our fat stores and weight.

A good analogy would be that the body has 3 fuel tanks … Read more

Motivation needs to be constantly worked on or it can slowly disappear. Prevention is the key and how you think is a major part of this. Here are a few things to consider.

  • Remember exercise is a great way to give something back to your body – it is time for yourself, time to escape, time to undo the wear and tear of stress, work, family life, poor food, alcohol, smoking and all the other stresses of life.
  • Losing weight, toning or getting fitter should be compared with climbing a stairs or ladder. The top step is the job done, the ultimate goal. Concentrate on moving just one step at a time. Remember

A. This does not surprise me at all. Most people are given the wrong information on improving this. The big issue is you need to do plenty of cardio exercise as most stomach problems are due to too much fat and not just poor muscle tone. So you should get the fat level measured on your stomach and focus on reducing that with a balanced diet and good cardio exercise.

The other key is toning and most people do this wrong. Any stomach exercise that you can do more than 40 repetitions continuously is no benefit to you. Once you build up to 40 reps then you need to find ways of making that exercise more difficult so… Read more

Omega 3 and Omega 6 are called essential fat families because you cannot make them in the body and must supply them from food. It is estimated that around 80% of people are deficient in these essential fats.

They have incredibly important roles in the body including the prevention of heart disease and cancer, balancing hormones, preserving bone density, preventing allergies, depression and arthritis, reducing cholesterol and for brain and skin health.

As if that wasn’t enough, you just cannot lose weight properly without them or shift stubborn fat or cellulite. Of the two of these families… Read more
